Hi guys, it’s Nick Pratt, welcome to another episode of Nick Pratt TV. In this episode, I am going to talk about the importance of having multiple traffic sources coming into your business, and why you should have that rather than rely on one specific traffic source or marketing strategy.
First of all, just to get it to the bare-bones basic – what is a traffic source and what is a marketing method? It’s quite simple – to run any kind of business, whether it’s a brick and mortar business or network marketing, top tier or affiliate marketing, you need traffic. You need eyeballs. Even in the shopping mall, you have foot-fall – which is foot traffic with people going into the various shops. You need that traffic, and online it’s exactly the same. You need to have foot-fall, you need to have leads coming into your business.
That may sound ridiculously simple to you, but it’s amazing how I talk to a lot of people who, when asked what they are using for a marketing strategy, haven’t got anything going on. It’s baffling. You need traffic and you need leads.
Why should you have multiple different traffic sources at any one time?
There are three reasons for it.
Let’s assume that you’ve got different marketing methods – you’ve got Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and maybe you’ve got some offline methods like newspaper ads or direct mail. There are three reasons you need multiple, as in different ones, working for you.
Reason 1: You Don’t Want to Keep All Your Eggs In One Basket
This happens because at any one time, a traffic source can stop working for you. For example, in 2008, there was what’s known as “The Google Slap.” A lot of marketers were kicked off Google AdWords because Google changed their policies. Also, the prices went way up, and you couldn’t advertise using Google any more if you were in a home business or internet marketing with a limited budget.
The point is, for a lot of people, that affected their business.
For that reason, I recommend you don’t keep all your eggs in one basket, because a traffic source could go away tomorrow. If it does, you need to make sure you’ve got other marketing strategies and leads coming into your business.
You don’t want to be too reliant on one strategy, you want to have some backups.
Reason 2: You Want to Make Sure There Isn’t Too Much Pressure on One Traffic Source
The point is, to get 50 leads a day from one traffic source is quite a challenge. To get 5-10 leads a day from 5 different traffic sources is very doable. You’re not putting too much pressure on one specific traffic source. That’s a good idea.
Reason 3: It Increases Your Value
If you know how to market on Facebook, YouTube, Google and Instagram, you can release products around those or have lead magnets on those and be an authority on them.
I may have mentioned all these tips, but one thing I want to make clear is that you should never start with all of these sources – you should build up to it.
You should always start one traffic source, get it to 5-10 leads per day, and then move on to adding another one. Don’t get distracted.
One final thing – you may be wondering how you learn about traffic? How do you learn how to do all this for your own business? This applies to any business – brick and mortar, network marketing, affiliate marketing, it doesn’t matter what it is.
