Hi guys, welcome to another episode of Nick Pratt TV. In this episode I am going to be talking to you about 3 different types of traffic. It’s super important to know, so read on.

This is something I heard a while ago – I can’t remember where, but it’s definitely something that will help explain the different types of traffic.

Traffic Type 1: Traffic That You Control

Traffic Type 2: Traffic That You Don’t Control

Traffic Type 3: Traffic That You Own

So let’s go through these different types.

three types of trafficTraffic Type 1: Traffic That You Control

This is essentially traffic that you pay for, or paid traffic. People say you control it, but you don’t really control it, because at any point, an advertising platform like Facebook or YouTube could shut you down. Technically, you don’t 100% control it.

However, you do in terms of you click a button, you can send a lot of clicks, as long as you can pay for it.

You can control it and you can scale it.

Paid traffic is obviously fantastic to do. It’s not the only way to do it, but it’s definitely a great idea for any business. Any business needs to invest money into building itself up. People who want to run a business without spending money, well… I don’t have anything to say to them. No business is run like that. Hopefully that’s not you.

Traffic Type 2: Traffic That You Don’t Control

You could say that this is something like content marketing like blogging and video. This is when you’re getting organic traffic.

Obviously, this is traffic you don’t control, and let me explain that. What it really means is you can’t technically scale it up.

You can sort of scale it up, because you just produce more content, which is a fantastic idea.

However, you can’t scale it like paid traffic. You can’t say to yourself “I’ve got 500 clicks, and I want that to go to 1000 clicks overnight.” It doesn’t really work like that because you don’t control how much traffic Google or YouTube or anywhere else sends to you.

I’ve actually got a video about content marketing and why you should do it – which you can see here.

The point is, you could call this free traffic, but to be honest, I wouldn’t call it free traffic. What I recommend is that if you’re going to produce content that you spend some money to help with the production of that content, like a content factory. It’s not really free traffic, I would instead call it organic. It’s not really paid advertising.

three types of trafficTraffic Type 3: Traffic That You Own

I would say this is the most important type of traffic.

This is basically email marketing or building your list. I have done other videos about email marketing and building your list – which you can see here.

This is really powerful. I’m always building my list every single day. I’ve got tons and tons of people on my mailing list, and the point is, I get lots of emails from people who love the content of my emails, they love opening them, and this is traffic that I control because 5-7 times per week I send emails out with value and information, it could be something new that’s going on. The point is, I control that traffic and I get replies form people every single day saying they love the emails I am sending.

Of course not everyone is going to send them, you will always get some people who don’t like being emailed, maybe they’re having a bad day, whatever.

In other videos I will get on to how much you should do, but the easiest answer is you should start paid advertising and organic advertising, and using those to build your list.

You need to be getting traffic and building that list, then owning traffic. You can do paid advertising along with content marketing, putting value out there, and used together, they are a deadly combination.

If you want more information from me about traffic generation, making money and doing this online stuff where you’re not having to chase people down on the street to make money, which is not a good way of running business, go to nickpratt.tv/blueprint and see a video about how I give my team members and students a blueprint for success, which is very step by step.
