Hi guys, welcome to another Driving with Nick Pratt, and in this episode I am going to be talking about something I don’t think I have covered before. It’s the importance of having the right tech equipment and tools to properly run your home business.
This is a topic you don’t hear people talk about that much. It’s all about having the right tech equipment and tools to run your business.
This is something I have been thinking about lately, because sometimes I talk to people who are thinking of getting started with my own business opportunity and people in other opportunities, but they tell me they haven’t got a laptop or a computer, they only have their phone. The thing about that is I am quite honest with people that it is possible to consume training with things like only a phone and a tablet. But to do proper business and to be really productive, you do need to have a laptop or a desktop. I would say the laptop is the minimum, and laptops these days can do great things.
If you really want to kick it up a notch, having a desktop computer is really the best, because with desktops you tend to have bigger screens.
When I started with my home business, I didn’t have tons of high-tech stuff. I just had a laptop and a desktop, and over time I have upgraded.
What I have found recently is over time, one of the computers I have been using for a couple of years had been clogged up with spyware and viruses, because it just got used a lot. I upgraded it, and now i have a lightning fast computer, my productivity has gone through the roof. These are the kinds of things that are easy to ignore and carry on with the existing equipment.
If you really want to kick things up a notch just make sure that you’re equipped to work at full productivity. It could be as simple as updating your computer or whatever.
Consider things like have you got a smart phone? It is important these days to have a smart phone. And some people may listen to this thinking “Is it really essential to have those things?”
I think it’s becoming more essential to have a decent phone, just something that can allow you to operate at your best efficiency. It’s really important.
The other thing is, there are a lot of people who contact me and tell me they’ve just got a phone and no computer at all. I would say at the very bare minimum, get a laptop, as that will really help.
Eventually, get a desktop, and then kick it up further, get an extra monitor so you have 2. I personally have 2 so I can have lots of different tasks open and on the go at a time, and just drag between screens.
I know this seems like a bit of a tedious topic and people don’t really talk about it all that much, but it’s something I wanted to cover.
On that point, normally in my videos I am always talking about how you really don’t need all this fancy equipment and it doesn’t matter. To some extent, it doesn’t. When you start your business, you shouldn’t go out and spend tons of money on tech equipment because that won’t get you results. You just need to get something that works, and with prices these days, you can get something for relatively inexpensive.
